What is the difference between UI and UX design?

The UI and UX design difference lies in the product’s design parts that they are responsible for, and the tools needed to work with them. The UX handles the product logic and makes it convenient and easy to use for every user. The UI design part deals with the interface and all visuals that the product has. 

What is UX design?

UX design (User Experience) covers everything connected with product logic and how easily the user understands it and completes actions. With smart UX design, users find out faster where to find the information, how to order items (if it’s marketplaces), or contact the service providers. For this, designers create simple user journeys and combine them with user behaviour in specific apps. They consider how people scroll pages, browse them, and how they scan the app overall. 

What is UI design?

UI design (User Interface) is about the visuals that the product comes with. There are colors, fonts, buttons, animations, branded things, and other graphics. Simply put, everything that users engage with and see when opening the app for the first time. UI affects the first impression users get and how strong the desire will be to open the app again.  

How do UI and UX work together?

In real-world products, they work as one system: UX defines what should happen and in what order, while UI defines how it looks and how users experience it. Without UX, an interface can look great but feel clunky. Without UI, it can be logical but hard to use.

All the popular apps we have today are the result of a smart combination of UI and UX, translated into user-friendly products we use daily.

If UI is weak or missing, the product may work logically but look outdated and visually confusing. From this point, it’s harder for users to navigate quickly, trust the interface, or find what they need, as it’s pretty hard without visual tips.
