Software development in Ukraine

If we had to sum up Ukraine’s IT sector in just two words, they’d be “growth” and “resilience.” Even in tough times, IT companies here keep moving forward, supporting the economy and proving their strength. Challenges? Sure, there are plenty. Can businesses handle them? Absolutely.

Ukraine keeps impressing the world with its potential and promise. So, what’s behind the top-notch services Ukrainian IT companies deliver to global clients? First, the incredible talent pool. Second, the unmatched ability to adapt to any circumstances, especially today. And let’s not forget the drive for innovation that keeps everything moving.

Investing in business here is like betting on a future built on creativity, collaboration, and unshakable optimism. One of our Swiss clients, Sahel Lahoo, confirmed this when he visited the TRIARE office in Cherkasy last December. It was an absolute pleasure hosting him, giving him a glimpse into our workflows, and collaborating on a project that we’re all proud of.

Sahel shared his experience and why he chose to partner with Ukraine’s IT sector in a quick interview. The full version of the interview, you’ll find on our Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DFK08Z8odII/

– Hello, Sahel. It’s our pleasure to meet you here. Could you please introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about your business?

– Sure, thanks for having me here. My name is Sahel, Sahel Lahoo. I’m from Switzerland and I just started a startup in the FinTech industry. We offer our customers to manage their finances with our products and to understand their finances in a much better way.

– Thank you so much for your answer. So, why did you decide to consider a Ukrainian company for your business and why did you choose TRIARE for this task?

– Ukraine has a good reputation in Switzerland as a software developer. Because a lot of companies have small teams here, and I’ve heard a lot of positive feedback about them. That’s why I decided to search for a Ukrainian company. For me, it was very important that the company is not like a ghost company. It really exists. When you search for software development companies on the internet, you’ll find companies that claim they have thousands of employees. They have made hundreds of projects. But in the end, it’s just a ghost company. Most of them are not real.

So for me, it was important. To see the reputation of the company and experience in the financial industry. I saw it, you have it. The last point was the team I’m working with. Because I’ve seen a company where they claim they have a lot of employees, but 90% of them were people in other countries. Here I see the people, I see the offices; like everything is real. So this is one of the reasons why I chose TRIARE. There are very nice people here.

– What was your first impression of Ukraine when you first came here?

– The first city I visited was Odessa, so this is my first impression. It was during the night, but it was pretty much peaceful. I have to admit that the people lived normally and I think people are in general very open to talking to. I’ve had a long discussion with my colleague on the bus, and then with the taxi driver. It was just like people are open to talk to you and it was very cool. The city of Odessa, which I talked about, is very nice and it’s very clean. I’ve been to other places in Western Europe. And I have to say Odessa is really a clean city compared to some other cities.

– I see. And what about our city Cherkasy? What do you think about it?

– I have to admit, there are very nice people here. Although not all of them speak English, they try to be kind to you and somehow understand you. I’ve been to judo training and ice swimming so I got to know some people. I know everything about the current situation in Ukraine, but here I see people who are trying to live normally as much as possible, and they’re very positive like they are not negative or depressed. They have open hearts.

– Thank you so much. You’ve already explained about the general atmosphere in the cities that you visited. What do you think is it a good idea to collaborate with Ukrainian IT software companies?

– It’s very perspective for us from the financial side. I’ve talked from the perspective of Western companies like France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. And the second thing is that there are a lot of good technical backgrounds and good professionals when it’s about IT in Ukraine. Like the people, which I have had contact with your company, but I also have contact with other companies, they really know what to do and they are improving. I think the country itself is in general very open to new technologies. I’ve seen that you have a lot of stuff which are digitalized here in Ukraine or not digitalized in other Western countries. So, like you’re very open to new technologies, you want to develop, so that’s one of the positive things.

– Yeah, you’re quite right. Some things are really unique in terms of the IT sphere, in terms of the IT products that we really have. And, what is your opinion about our office, the atmosphere here?

– It’s very cozy, I have to admit. First, when I entered, I got the cozy Christmas vibes. Like everything is chill, everything is nice. I didn’t really feel any stress or that people are stressed, I think. Like, I would like to work here, to stay here more and not go back to Switzerland.

– And what would you suggest to international entrepreneurs who are just thinking about whom to work with? Would you recommend Ukrainian companies? What’s your advice to people who are not sure about working or not with the Ukrainian IT sector?

– I would say in general that Ukraine is very perspective. Especially for startups, I think. I can’t really say about big enterprises because they have a lot of policies they have to check. I can only speak from the site of the startups. For us, it’s very interesting, as I said. First, because of the financial aspects, and second because of the innovation and know-how aspects. So it’s very interesting to come to Ukraine and build a team here.

– Thank you so much for your answers and stay as long as you wish. We’ll be happy to have you as part of our team.

– Thank you! Thank you for having me as your guest.

We’re confident this is just the beginning of a fruitful partnership, and we’ll have more in-person meetings with other international partners here in Ukraine. Today, we’ve already proven that the Ukrainian IT business has everything it takes to operate, maintain global connections, and deliver top-notch digital products for clients around the world.
