Solu – A sound-based app for finding calm and improving sleep

Solu ToneStream is a wellness app that helps people reduce stress and find calm, balance, and relaxation through specially designed harmonic sound sessions. No effort required on your part – just sit back and listen. Unlike traditional meditation apps with voice instructions, Solu uses immersive audio streams and sound therapy techniques to support relaxation, concentration, and overall emotional well-being. 

At the heart of every sound in their soundbase are years of therapeutic sound studying and pure sine waves and harmonically structured tones tuned to 432 Hz – the most natural and comfortable experience for both the mind and body. All original sounds for ToneStream are created through analog and/or hand-built instruments, each recorded with intention and precision. 

A key app difference stands on this: meditation apps help you do something, but ToneStream invites you to be. It’s unique content designed to bring a sense of peace and calm whenever you need it, in the most comfortable way possible.

The client approached us with two primary business needs: add new features to the Solu app and create a web platform to promote the mobile app and give users a clear understanding of the company’s services and the benefits of using the app. As always, we started with the information-gathering stage and performed an in-depth analysis of the entire app. At this stage, we recommended redesigning the app to create a more intuitive experience, strengthen user retention, and increase the number of active users. With everything mapped out, we began the design and development process.

• To create a more sustainable and flexible monetization strategy, we updated subscription plans to align with different user segments.
• To improve user satisfaction and engagement, we redesigned the app experience, simplifying navigation, improving usability, and modernizing the interface.
• To strengthen Solu’s digital presence and attract new users, we built a WordPress website focused on promoting the app and helping bring in new customers.

We started by analyzing the existing application through reverse engineering. This helped us understand the product’s logic, key user flows, and areas that could be improved.

Next, we designed the WordPress website, building a unified platform that familiarised users with the Solu app services and showed them how they can use it on a daily basis. Together with the client, we then went through the review and approval stages to finalize all key decisions before development.

After that, the team tackled the most critical part of the project – refining and enhancing the mobile app. The first thing we did was implement a gift code feature for both iOS and Android platforms. Then, the existing monetization model revision showed the necessity of updating the subscription system. Our team added flexible monthly and annual plans alongside gift subscriptions available in 3-month, 6-month, and yearly options. This step makes the subscription experience more flexible for different user needs and future growth.

In the process, we suggested additional improvements to make the app even more effective for the client. Part of it was a full app redesign focused on improving user experience and increasing engagement and active users. At this stage, we carried out a UX/UI redesign – refined the visual style, simplified navigation, improved key user flows, and aligned the interface with modern design standards.

Finally, we conducted the all new features testing to ensure everything worked as it should across devices. We also provided ongoing technical support with continuous monitoring, bug fixing, and updates to ensure the app runs smoothly over time.

• Subscriptions. Flexible access models (free, premium, trial) that let users try the product before paying and support monetization across different audience segments.
• WordPress website ecosystem. A separate acquisition channel that supports marketing campaigns and guides users toward installing the app.
• Website content structure. Pages are organized as a clear, step-by-step explanation that helps users quickly understand the product without unnecessary technical detail.
• Support for the interface redesign. The updated mobile app visual system reduces clutter, focuses on minimalism, and creates a calmer, more comfortable experience when interacting with audio content.

As a result of our cooperation, the client got a complete product ecosystem that connects the app and marketing website into one seamless user journey – from first touch to regular use. This makes the product easier to understand, more accessible for new users, and better prepared for scaling. 

Above all, the mobile app has helped the client reach a wider audience and grow its user base. By delivering a seamless experience that naturally fits into users’ daily relaxation and recovery routines, the app continues to drive engagement and bring lasting value to the business.
